WikiSource and ebooks for all

Ainda sobre o assunto de eBooks, enquanto estava pesquisando no post anterior encontrei uma facção do WikiFoundation (sim, o detentor do WikiPedia) bem interessante: O WikiSource. Ele constitui em uma biblioteca virtual, agregando obras em diversas línguas, dessas, mais de 86.000 páginas apenas em português! Adicionado a isso o WikiSource trás uma ferramenta que converte as páginas em PDF, tornando possível o download de uma obra nesse formato.
Para alguém que até pouco tempo estava viciado em comprar livros, só em passar na porta da Livraria Cultura já levava três livros, pelo menos vou poder agora colecionar livros que não tenho tempo de ler sem ocupar espaço físico em casa e sem gastar dinheiro =P
Para manter esse projeto, e muitos outros, é necessário nosso apoio. Particularmente fiz uma doação ano passado e também esse ano. Não é uma grande quantia o que pude dar, mas sei que já é uma ajuda... Ajude também!


Still talking about eBooks, while I was researching for the preview post I found a faction of the WikiFoundation (Yes, the Wikipedia creator) quite interesting: The WikiSource. It constitutes of a virtual library, aggregating many works on several languages, among that more than 86.000 pages only Portuguese! He Add to this that the Wikisource brings a tool to convert pages into PDF, making easier and possible the download of the works on this format.
For someone that until a little time ago was addicted on buying books. Only in passing in front of some bookstore, I would kidnap three books with me.
At least now I can collect books that I won’t have time to read, occupying little physical space and spending few cash.

Semana passada havia comentado a respeito da divulgação de CPFs  em diversas mídias e sites e os problemas que isso pode trazer para o cidadão portador daquela identidade. Ontem foi publicado um edital de notificação no jornal publicando uma lista de xexeiros e seus respectivos CPFs! Lá, escancarado pra todo mundo ver! Não que um CPF já com débitos na praça vá servir de alguma coisa, pois provavelmente já está bloqueado o crédito para o mesmo, mas a questão é o acesso fácil a uma informação tão importante do cidadão. Volto a sugerir que para divulgação de editais ou listas, a omissão dos dígitos centrais do CPF garantiriam a identificação do cidadão, preservando a divulgação para uso ilícito. Data Protector Cannot connect to the SCM (Service Control Manager)

Antigamente meus backups de BD (Banco de Dados) se resumiam a cópias em disco que iam para HDs externos e tal. Há quase 6 meses eu venho trabalhando com uma ferramenta de backup de verdade, com biblioteca de fitas LTO, robô de mudança de fitas e toda aquela parafernália que faz com que o tempo de recuperação de um backup caia de 7 horas para 3 (ou até menos). Afinal, quando o BD para ninguém quer saber como você vai fazer para recuperá-lo, apenas querem que o faça o mais rápido possível. Bastante razoável. Essa ferramenta (HP Data Protector 6.20) consiste basicamente em um Servidor (Cell Manager) que conversa com o Cliente (local onde estão os dados que será feito backup ou onde você deseja restaurar o backup).
