Belas Bruxas
Estou de volta de minhas férias na praia. Coincidentemente conheci, no privê onde fiquei uma dama que descobri ser uma bruxa. Coincidentemente não por eu pensar ser um bruxo, mas porque falávamos sobre isso no blog, ain't? E ao contrário do que muitos e mitos contam bruxas atualmente passam longe daquelas velhas senhoras com grande nariz e uma verruga na ponta voando sobre uma vassoura velha. Bruxas podem ser mais bonitas do que se pensa.
No fim da Idade Média o cristianismo crescia intensivamente, convertendo ou destruindo seguidores de outras doutrinas e religiões. Foi nessa mesma época que foi criado o Tribunal da Inquisição, julgando e condenando os acusados de "adoradores do diabo". Grande número de vítimas acusadas como bruxas eram mulheres inocentes. O simples fato de a pessoa recuar-se a comer carne de porco era considerado para alguns, motivo para ir para o Tribunal como uma judia. Alguns historiadores afirmam que foram executadas aproximadamente 10 milhões de pessoas nesse período.
Freqüentemente pessoas eram acusadas falsamente, já que era bem recompensado aquele que informasse sobre a existência de alguma bruxa nas redondezas. E nem sempre se precisava de provas concretas para tal condenação. Para obter a confissão o acusado passava por uma longa e insuportável sessão de torturas, como ter o corpo suspenso pelas mãos com os braços voltados para trás. A maioria das pessoas preferia dizer que praticavam magia, mesmo sem nunca o terem feito.
Por essa razão as bruxas que viviam nessa época procuravam camuflar seus utensílios mágicos em forma de objetos comuns. O cetro mágico, por exemplo, era transformada em uma colher de pau. A panela grande era seu caldeirão e assim por diante. Marcas estranhas como sardas ou manchas no corpo das mulheres também eram consideradas como marcas do diabo, rotulando-as como bruxas.
Muitas bruxas decoravam o conteúdo dos seus livros para serem queimados e somente reescritos quando a Inquisição terminasse. Alguns desses manuscritos permaneceram escondidos, passando de geração a geração até nossos tempos, sendo consideradas verdadeiras relíquias.
A discriminação as bruxas ainda continua, pois ainda são vistas por muita gente como praticantes do mal. Mas garanto que bruxas belas como a que conheci, passam longe de imaginar-se que façam algo para o mal.

Was on this time that was created the Supreme Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office, judging and condemning the charged of being "devil lovers". A large number of women charged on this time were even innocent. The simple fact of someone refuse to eat pig meat was enough to consider as a reason to confront the Congregation Office as if you were a jewish. Some historians say that were executed near 10 million people that time.
Frequently people were lying charged, once that those whose gave information about existence of some witch around, would be well rewarded. And none of the times they need solid proves to condemn someone. To obtain the confession the charged person was submitted to a long and painful torture session, as to have the body suspended by a rope tied on the hands with the arms turned back. Most of people used to prefer to confess that they were witches, even never had done some witchcraft.
Because of this the witches who lived that time looked for hide their magic objects into common objects. The magic staff, for example, becomes the wood spoon. The big pan was the large caldron, and so on. Strange marks as spots or freckles at women body were also considerate as devil marks, making them a witch also.
Many of those witches used to record on mind the content of their books, to so it can be burned and be rewritten after the Inquisition. Some of those manuscripts remained hidden, passing through generations until nowadays, being considerate truly relics.
The discrimination to the witches still remains, because they're still considerate for many as evil practicing. But I guaranty you that pretty witches as that I had knew, are far from someone imagine to practice something evil.

We have Wiccans left and right here. Thank the First Amendment. We won't though, if the Christian Right gets it's way. The state I live in used to have witch hunts. The phrase "dammed if you do, dammed if you don't" came from the practice of throwing women accused of being witches into lakes. If you floated you were at witch and put to death. If you sank you were innocent but they might not bother to fish you out afterwards. Oddly enough, we are studying that time period in class right now. Pig meat is known as pork by the way.
